Merritt Trace Elementary (TK-2) – Fall 2025

Registration was closed due to a full roster, but has opened up again. We’re now offering a second class from 3:15 to 4:00 PM. If you register on or after 9/2/25, your child will be placed in the second group.

Instructor: Niles Flynn

Location: B-10

Day/Time: Wednesdays from 2:25 to 3:10 PM and 3:15 to 4:00 PM

Age: TK-2nd Grade

Schedule: 8 Classes (9/24-11/19) Sept 24 Oct 8, 15, 22, 29 (cancelled) Nov 5, 12, 19, Dec 3 (added on to replace Oct 29) (Price includes a $25 processing/facilities fee.) No class on Oct 1.

Performance: Nov 21 on the big stage at 8:30 AM during the Friday Morning Assembly. Please make sure to stand behind the grass area or at the picnic tables so that you don’t block the view of the student audience. The classes will be combined so there will be 29 Trace Bucketeers all performing at the same time!

In the case of force majeure (such as schools closing/moving to virtual learning because of the pandemic), weekly instruction will be offered in the form of Zoom classes.

Niles Flynn

Niles Flynn graduated Cum Laude from San Jose State University, College of Music and Dance with a degree in Music Education and Percussion Performance. He was a fellow at the Colorado College Summer Music Festival for two consecutive years alongside John Kinzie and Aiyun Huang. Niles has work with many great music educators: Jake Nissly (San Francisco Symphony), Galen Lemmon (Symphony San Jose), and Bryce Leafman (San Francisco Symphony). Niles performs regularly with many groups around the Bay Area such as Cambrian Symphony, Children’s Music Theatre, Blue Devils Entertainment, Mission Chamber Orchestra, Master Sinfonia Chamber Orchestra, and many others. Niles teaches privately and with percussion groups and after-school ensembles. Niles aims to continue to build a career performing and educating while inspiring those around him to seek out the beauty, truth, and joy in music.
